Gun Dog Training

At Pheasant Ridge Kennel and Hunting Preserve gun dog training is overseen by SportDOG Brand Pro Staff Member Jeff Hofstetter. We offer one hour lessons as well as residential training tailored to each dogs needs. We offer introduction to water and gunfire and e-collar conditioning as well as many other services.

  • Training Programs

    Each program is tailored for each individual dog. Feel free to contact us to schedule a complimentary evaluation of your dog, We will then advise you of what the best course of action for your dog would be. We offer various training services including introduction to water and gunfire, proper groundwork for upland game and field obedience. We also offer e-collar coditioning. We offer residental training as well as one hour lessons.

  • Residential Training

    Our residential program is available from April thru October. We do not accept dogs under six months of age. During the time your dog stays at Pheasant Ridge he/she will be trained daily and will have the opportunity to work with live game birds. After the initial evaluation we will decide with your input what is the best course of training for the pup. After training you will be invited to see what your dog has learned and we will train you to properly handle your dog as well as teach you how to continue your dogs training. All dogs should be crate trained before their arrival because all of our guest dogs are crated in our home with our personal dogs at night. All vaccinations, including kennel cough, must be up to date. Kennel Ridge reserves the right to exclude any dog from any of our training programs.

  • Hourly Lessons

    Our hourly lessons are designed for a person who would like to train their own gun dog but needs a little help doing so. At Pheasant Ridge we will train the trainer. We will work with you for an hour and we will give you some training to work on with your dog until your next visit. As always your initial evaluation is complimentary.


At Pheasant Ridge Kennel and Hunting Preserve all Gun Dog Training is overseen by SportDOG Brand Pro Staff member Jeff Hofstetter. Jeff trains retrievers and spaniels for field work and hunt tests. Jeff personally participates in NAHRA and AKC hunt tests. He believes a gun dog should quarter a field properly, turn to a whistle as well as hand signal, find game and after game is shot retrieve to hand and sit looking at its handler calmly awaiting a command.  Residential Training :             $550.00 monthly
